Principal Policy Officer
Osborne Richardson have an excellent role for a Principal Policy Officer to join a local authority based in the Essex. This role sits within our clients Planning Policy Group and will require you to assist our client review their Local Plan evidence and contribute to refine our clients Local Plan 2014-2034 to Submission by end March 2019. This will require you to include appropriate interpretation of planning guidance and legislation and advise on planning policy issues. You will be responsible for advising and liaising with other areas of the Planning & Regeneration Team as well as developers, Members, the public and other teams across the council. In order to carry out this role you will need a good knowledge of planning legislation and policy guidance in relation to national, regional and local plan making and associated legislative requirements. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and you will need to be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver the project. A degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required. The contract will initially be offered as a 3 month contract but is likely to be extended and our client is looking for a near immediate start date.
