A fantastic opportunity has become available to join our Argos Financial Services team as an Insight Specialist in Bolton for 12 months, covering a maternity leave.

The Role

As Insight Specialist, you will be integral in supporting AFS in delivering their strategic plan by providing the insight and analysis required to enable confident decision making. You will do so in both proactive and reactive circumstances and will make value-adding recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Your client base is in numerous geographical locations, and across various functions including AFS Marketing and the wider Commercial & Marketing function, Finance, Operations, Argos Retail Trading and into Sainsbury’s Bank.

You will manage 1 direct report, the Insight Analyst.

As Insight Specialist, you will;

Work with all areas of AFS to understand known analytical and information requirements in the short and medium term, using your own knowledge and experience to best approach and answer such requests to a high degree of accuracy. You’ll consistently take on the perspective of an internal customer and question the initial request, determining if further value can be added through a broadening of the original scope.
Make recommendations to your own team and the wider business of insight which would further add value and support our strategy.
Develop, mentoring and day-to-day manage the Insight Analyst, encouraging our desired skills and behaviours whilst ensuring the quality and accuracy of output is upheld, together with workload being appropriately managed.
Work with other senior team members to validate and critique any requested / planned environment developments and make proactive recommendations for future developments which would benefit our ability to generate insight, therefore driving value for AFS.
Ensure any regular reporting your or your direct report is responsible for meet business requirements in terms of content and frequency, are continuously and closely monitored and new opportunities for additions and developments are sought.

As Insight Specialist, you will have;

Experience in a data-driven customer insight / marketing analysis role.
Line management experience.
The ability to evaluate different data processing opportunities and provide commercially viable recommendations.
A confident presenting style to discuss analysis with senior stakeholders up to Director level, with the ability to use data to tell a story and to challenge existing ways of working. You’ll have the ability to communicate technical solutions and analysis to non-technical people.
The ability to seek and interpret data and metrics from a variety of sources to identify key issues. You’ll prepare and deliver less straightforward information, using appropriate tools, ensuring the messages are understood.
Knowledge of the GDPR and relevant industry standard rules.
The ability to scope, plan and manage multiple analysis projects to achieve objectives across a wide range of business areas, with differing deadlines, and communicating timescales effectively.
Expert knowledge of data manipulation techniques using SAS and SQL.
