Hydraulic Design Engineer


Up to £65,000 + pension, Health, Holidays / Rates Negotiable

As the Senior Hydraulic design engineer within a supportive, forward thinking engineering team you will be responsible for the design, development, test and integration of machine based hydraulic systems for world class material handling and off-highway machinery.

Your Role: Hydraulic Design Engineer

* Full lifecycle hydraulic systems design from initial concept design to prototype

* 1D simulation of hydraulic and powertrain systems within the machine

* Test, fault find and integration of hydraulics into machine to support prototype creation

* Lead all hydraulic design and development activities within the team and be the technical authority both internally and with external teams and suppliers

* Choose, specify and size up off the shelf components to be integrated into the system

This position sits in a small but growing team that has been especially created to work on the design and development of a new range of hydraulic lifting machines. They are part of a large, global organisation but have complete autonomy in their processes and flexibility in their approach to new product development and innovation.

Your background: Hydraulic Design Engineer

* You will be a technical hydraulics design expert with very strong industry knowledge in mobile or industrial hydraulic systems

* You will have worked on hydraulic design for construction, off-highway or agricultural machines or lifting platforms, material handling or static machinery-based hydraulics

* Good understanding of hydrostatic drives, pumps, pressure, fluid flow, engine power or powertrain systems

* Good hands on test & development skills; willing to get hands dirty across all aspects of machine design and build

* Ability to demonstrate involvement in at least 3 full project lifecycles within your career

* Knowledge of 1D simulation tools would be beneficial – Excel, HyperWorks, Powersim etc

* Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical engineering or similar

* This is an autonomous role within a supportive business but as the only hydraulic design engineer you should be able to hold you own within a project

The company is conveniently located close to Coventry, Tamworth, Rugby, Leicester, Burton upon Trent and East Birmingham with great transport links to Northampton and Stafford but welcome engineers from further afield of within the EU
