Brakes UK and Fresh Direct Operational Finance Director

Role Purpose Statement
To lead the UK wide transactional and central finance teams of c150 colleagues, based at the UK finance shared service centre in Ashford and support the management and staff of the Fresh Direct Group transactional finance functions. Ensuring strict adherence to the highest financial governance standards and enhancing the financial control environment, including compliance with SOX. Enhancing profitability, through increased operational finance efficiency and improve insight and to drive down finance operating expense. Provide finance business partnering support for the Brakes UK and Fresh Direct CFO, the UK Executive Committee and the Fresh Direct Group CEO team, supporting in initiatives that improve customer experience from a finance perspective.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Responsible for the transactional and central finance functions across the total UK Group, ensuring that business planning and reporting cycles are adhered to and that European and US reporting timelines are achieved.
• Planning UK G&A cost, and using influence and gravitas to ensure G&A financial targets are met.
• Maintaining and enhancing the financial control environment, including SOX compliance and balance sheet controls (including reconciliation of management reporting systems and intercompany / inter-depot).
• Responsibility for capital planning and reporting (including the UK capital committee).
• Ensuring continued team development, building a highly engaged and high performing but cost effective operational finance team.Management of 6 direct reports.
• Continued development of reporting and insight capabilities, utilising the BI Centre Of Excellence to drive effective decision making, while reducing cost.
• Responsible for day to day running of all UK transactional finance teams, including: account creation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking and allocation and rebates teams (c120 colleagues).
• Deliver operational finance projects and continual improvement to ensure operating efficiencies are achieved (including AP EDI, Collection Management, Chesapeake and other potential tools and synergies across Sysco Europe and US).
• Monitor and develop credit management policies, strategies and practices to reduce credit risk and minimise bad debt or fraud loss to the UK business.
• Act as business partner to the UK Executive team, in particular the UK CFO, CIO and HR Director.In addition, work with the wider business to ensure that the finance teams are contributing to business targets and objectives with regard to improving customer experience
• Support the realisation of treasury and working capital targets, including supporting the UK Treasury team with the implementation of supplier financing capabilities and arrangements.

• Qualified Accountant, with at least 9 years PQE experience across a wide range of finance functions
• Experience of working in a fast-paced finance environment
• Experience managing large operational finance functions (100 employees plus)
• A history of working on large scale change programmes involving finance shared services
• Experience of working closely with Business Technology departments to deliver business benefits
• Experience developing and presenting major business change business cases, including benefit tracking and monitoring return on investment.
• A track record of managing senior stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Excellent MS Office experience (including Excel and PowerPoint)
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and transactional finance systems.
