We’re looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor, with some conservation experience, and an up-to-date approach to building surveying, to help look after the property portfolios in Northern Ireland. These places come with some fascinating conservation challenges, but also exciting opportunities to drive forward further improvements to our let estate, vernacular in hand buildings and visitor infrastructure. The chance to make a difference on this scale doesn’t come along every day.
You will be working directly with our technical team and will be based at our Regional Consultancy hub office located within the grounds of Rowallane Gardens, Saintfield.
What you'll be doing
We are looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to bring technical excellence to the conservation and maintenance of property portfolios across Northern Ireland.
You’ll focus on the delivery of cyclical maintenance, compliance works, conservation backlog works, building services, energy use reduction, visitor infrastructure and residential property refurbishment, working with other internal and external consultant specialists, ranging from Curators to Conservators, visitor experience consultants and Planning Advisors.
The role will also include delivering high quality professional advice to property teams, and undertaking capital project works.
You’ll be working alongside other professionals as part of the National Trust Consultancy using your expertise to provide advice in an enthusiastic way and as a champion of best practice.
You will be responsible for some buildings, and for identifying a programme of work to help achieve sustainable standards of building repair, maintenance, and conservation and help deliver our property objectives working closely with our General Managers.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring management information is up-to-date and managed appropriately through the maintenance elements of our property system.
You will be fluent in the use of AutoCAD.
Who we're looking for
You will need to have:
- MRICS or equivalent membership e.g. MCIOB and Diploma/ MSc in Building Conservation
- A passion for building surveying within a heritage and conservation organisation
- Knowledge of building conservation, from asset management to contract management, procurement, to maintenance and repair
- Experience of delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
- A clear client focus and excellent client relationship management skills
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- The ability to work and effectively manage your time across several properties
