This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established company that undertakes social research for the public sector across the UK. They employ around 50 permanent staff as well as numerous casual interviewers and offer attractive employment conditions within a large, friendly central Swansea office.

This post is based within a small team of analysts and a broader team of quantitative researchers who undertake a variety of social and market research briefs, primarily for the public sector across the UK.

The post-holder will be expected to support in fulfilling analysis requirements for research projects. Whilst a range of different tasks will be allocated by a more senior member of the team, or other nominated person, the person appointed will be primarily responsible for producing samples, clean datasets, data tabulations and cross-tabulations, while also drawing on background secondary research where appropriate.

Excellent computer skills are essential and candidates should be confident in working with large datasets while making interpretative decisions. There is scope for the person appointed to develop their skills and experience beyond the role of Assistant Analyst.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Post:

- Approving questionnaire design
- Advanced scripting and response validation in questionnaire design applications
- Preparing and selecting sample and quota matrices using appropriate secondary data as required
- Consistency and credibility checking primary datasets and preparing survey results
- Carrying out statistical weighting using appropriate secondary data sources
- Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, codes of conduct and ISO standards
- Ensuring documentation includes, and has regard to, quality and information security accreditations

Person Specification:

ESSENTIAL
- Degree from any discipline OR Relevant vocational experience
- Experienced with Microsoft Excel, SPSS or other spreadsheet, analysis or database package
- Good general level of computer literacy

DESIRABLE
- Degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics or social sciences
- Experience of SPSS syntax, SQL (or similar databases), HTML, JavaScript and/or Regular Expressions
- Worked with large datasets
- Applied sample statistics to 'real world' data
- Understanding of sample bias and representativeness
- Undertaken applied social research
- Undertaken library and/or internet research

Must be a good communicator, flexible, organised and able to switch between tasks without confusion.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
