Sales Engineer


£40k to £50k + Car Allowance, Healthcare, pension etc.

The Company

With a 25 year history working with some of the premier aerospace, gas & steam turbine manufacturers, my client has a reputation for being an extremely reliable and innovative service company, offering engineering solutions to businesses across the UK and even mainland Europe..

As experts in corrosion, erosion, fatigue and failure within turbine components, they offer a full engineering service to customers; ranging from independent specialist firms to large global conglomerates.

Due to excellent growth and an enviable order book, they are now looking to build their impressive team by the appointment of a suitably qualified and knowledgeable Sales Engineer, to continue this impressive development.

The Role

As a Sales Engineer your role will include maintaining an existing customer base, whilst developing new opportunities within these established clients and new companies.

Typical duties include:

* Operating out of an impressive Derbyshire base and covering customers across the UK. You’ll also be dealing with customers in mainland Europe (predominantly in Holland)
* Working closely with teams based in Derbyshire and my client’s Scottish site, to ensure the best coverage for the business
* Managing your own diary to ensure the best coverage of existing and new customers
* Working closely with customer's engineering teams to gain sufficient technical information to develop engineering solutions
* Presenting your solutions to a range of customer stakeholders via face to face meetings, the written word and on the phone
* Being involved in several projects at any one time, so the need for good prioritising skills is essential
* Discussing options with engineers from the customer's teams, which includes the technical aspects of the solution, as well as the financial side
* To be constantly looking for relevant opportunities for the business and developing these to a positive, natural conclusion
* Dealing with all aspects of the teams within the business; ranging from support services and the skilled manufacturing engineers on the shop floor to others involved in projects.

The Person

In order to succeed in this Sales Engineer position it is expected that you will have:

* A relevant engineering background, training and qualifications that include knowledge and experience of turbines and related components
* Experience of engineering sales and managing a diverse client base, as well as new business development
* Proven ability to plan and develop your region, existing customers and the company footprint
* Great organisational abilities and solid I.T skills (MRP / Email / Microsoft Office etc.)
* Proven experience of dealing with all the levels of people (internal and external)
* Experience of working with 1st tier suppliers within aerospace, oil & gas or similar ‘turbine’ industries (Those with experience of working with Rolls Royce, Siemens and similar blue chip organisations will have a distinct advantage)
* Solid technical knowledge and an ability to convey technical information to a range of stakeholders
