The Role

Barber McLelland are working on behalf of a highly successful and dynamic Chartered Accountancy Practice with multiple offices based across the region. Due to the high level of success which the firm have achieved in recent years along with future succession planning, the firm are looking to appoint an ambitious qualified accountant for the role of Client Portfolio Manager.

The firm has changed significantly over the past few years, introducing new business initiatives and service lines, with a fresh and dynamic approach to the market. This in turn has helped the firm develop a highly diverse client base, helping contribute to revenue growth and an increase in standards and expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting the firm's Partners, the role of Client Portfolio Manager will take overall responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries which typically operate up to £25 million turnover, duties which will include:

Management of a varied client portfolio, being the main point of contact for these businesses.
Planning, budgeting and carrying out assignments for both Audit and Non-Audit client work
Preparation of statutory and management accounts
Delegating and supervising work of more junior members of the team
Liaising with other departments within the business, including participating in group and firm wide activities
Assist in preparation of business plans, cash flow forecasts
Contribute in client planning and finalisation meetings
Knowledge of Xero and other cloud based products would be advantageous.

Skills and Qualities

The successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent and will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of success in an accountancy practice environment across both audit and accounting engagements.

As Client Portfolio Manager you should also be able to demonstrate the ability to manage clients unsupervised, be commercially astute and have a strong technical audit and accounting knowledge.

Key for the appointment is to recruit an individual that demonstrates the an ambitious, dynamic and forward thinking approach to match that of the firm


Salary - £40,000 - £50,000 dependent upon experience
Flexible working hours
