Secondary Cover Supervisors - PGCE Students

A variety of Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ secondary schools in the Chorley and surrounding areas are actively looking for passionate individuals who are looking to embark on a PGCE who can cover secondary classes in the absence of the class teacher. The role of a cover supervisor is a great opportunity to earn extra income and gain the relevant experience before starting your PGCE.

The role:

As a cover supervisor, you will be expected to oversee lessons in the absence of the teacher. You will not be required to deliver the lesson itself but you must ensure that the pupils are on task. You will need to manage behaviour in line with the school policy so you must be confident and have a strong, firm, but fair approach.


* Cover Supervisor Training – Level 1
* An Introduction to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
* Safeguarding, Child Protection and Prevent
* Behaviour Management Training - Level 1

The requirements:

* Be qualified to degree level.
* Have experience working with small or large groups of children.
* Be available at least 3 days a week.
* Be flexible and available at short notice.
* Being able to drive would be an advantage
* DBS certificate on the update service (or willing to complete one)
* 2 referees we can contact for references
