Our client is looking for a Technical Officer on a 3 month contract with possible extension.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday. 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Job Purpose:

To carry out incident and problem diagnosis and resolution for Trust IT equipment and software in accordance with National, industry and trust standards with a particular focus on ITIL IT Service Management.

To provide 2nd line support for some parts of the Trust's data communications network, associated servers, clinical and corporate systems.

Participate in the implementation and delivery of specific IT projects.

Assist in the creation and maintenance of clear, accurate and up to date documentation and records relating to hardware, software, systems and operating processes and procedures.

Assist the Endpoint Team Leader with Incident, Problem and Change Management.

To provide support and direction for other technical staff.

To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.

Responsibilities:

* Planning tasks and activities which may require adjustment due to variable workload and frequent interruptions.
* Maintenance of technical documentation, including the Asset Register.
* Production and maintenance of knowledge base entries covering known issues.
* Testing of IT systems proposed for use within the Trust including applications & hardware.
* Staffing of the Service Desk as required.
* Server administration and management under the direction of the Systems Manager as appropriate, e.g. user accounts and rights management, etc.
* Network installation and troubleshooting under the direction of the Network Manager as appropriate, e.g. replacement of network modules, production of local reports, etc
* Diagnosis and resolution of a range of technical issues, identifying and analysing sources of variations.
* Participation in mixed skill teams as required to achieve project goals and deadlines.
* Leadership of small project teams and distributing tasks to other staff where appropriate.
* To work within the Trust Health and Safety Policy and ensure any external contractors and other technical staff adhere to this policy.
* Responsible for the proper and safe use of IT equipment by users.
* Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of expensive IT equipment.
* Ensure personal development needs are met in conjunction with the Technical Support Manager.
* Support other technical staff in learning the procedures and working practices of the Corporate IT Department.
* Ensure all Trust systems are operating within a secure environment in accordance with Corporate IT Procedures.
* Ensure they are aware of their responsibilities in accordance with Trust policies and the Data Protection.

Requirements:

* Educated to degree standard or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
* Excellent knowledge of PC hardware and upgrade/maintenance issues.
* Microsoft qualification (Microsoft Certified Professional) or equivalent advanced experience in managing and troubleshooting previous current and future Microsoft operating systems standards.
* Microsoft qualification or equivalent advanced experience of Microsoft Office products; dealing with installation, configuration, support and development of the office product or the individual applications. Such as Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher and Excel.
* Knowledge of ITIL, qualified to Foundation Certificate level or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of previous current and proposed Microsoft desktop operating systems standards, installation, configuration and deployment with specific specialist knowledge of creating and developing complex and secure operating system images and software, using a variety of Microsoft and 3rd party deployment tools to prepare bundled software.
* Knowledge of desktop computers and printers to aid diagnostics and troubleshooting of a wide range of expensive and highly complex I.T equipment.
* Knowledge of PC/laptop/tablet and upgrade/maintenance issues. Underpinned by extensive practical knowledge and theory; in installation and configuration of upgrade hardware like; memory, CPU, SCSI, PCI and other upgradeable hardware systems; using intricate tools, testing, repairing or replacing faulty electrical components
* Knowledge of PC/laptop/tablet hardware maintenance; diagnosing and resolving faults with integrated and peripheral components; including electrical component failure; using intricate tools, testing, repairing or replacing faulty electrical components.
* Knowledge of national applications; including installation, configuration, development and troubleshooting support for (E.g. Choose & Book, Registration Authority & Electronic Staff Records, SafeBoot Encryption Software and Clinical Spine).
* Knowledge of local applications; including installation, configuration, development and troubleshooting support for (E.g. Integra, SPSS, Ascribe & MTS Robot – Pharmacy software, Paxton Access – building access control systems, IPS/VPS pay systems, Grams, Simply Speaking – Dragon dictate, Clinical manager, BACs, Performancesoft, AUTOCAD, AMPS – Scoring Software, Concept, Citrix Client. RCAT, CostMaster & SLAM – finance reporting, patient-level costing & modeling, Safecode & TOREX).
* Knowledge at an advanced level of multiple technical systems or functions/disciplines. E.g. computer, printing hardware and software; including Konica Minolta Multi-function (print finishing) devices.
* Knowledge and experience of network devices and server systems, to aid diagnostics and troubleshooting of a wide range of expensive and highly complex I.T equipment.
* Excellent knowledge of anti-virus software, virus detection and removal techniques.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills accompanied by excellent keyboard skills to; ensure proper processing of specialist and highly complex I.T information within current policies and procedures.
* The ability to work simultaneously with different projects.
* Ability to manage/plan own workload and to supervise junior staff where necessary.
* Ability to work under own initiative, as part of a team and lead a small team where necessary.
* A team player and the ability to work simultaneously with different project managers, to agreed timescales
* Knowledge of the Data protection Act 1998.
* A strong commitment to maintaining understanding of continuing IT developments
* Access to motor vehicle in order to carry out duties.
