I am recruiting for a leading Medical device development company based in Dorset.

They are seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer who can work independently as the Subject Matter Expert within local and global new Product Development project teams focusing on the practical and pragmatic implementation of user-centred techniques to generate commercially successful and usable medical products.

The products you will be working on are novel wound dressings and wound healing devices which are used in varied and often challenging environments. Expert product knowledge will be essential as you will be giving guidance to junior team members and demonstrating your knowledge to your team.

Some of the responsibilities will be:
Performing risk analysis in accordance with IEC 62366-1 / ISO 14971
Identify and implement appropriate user research techniques
Planning, preparing, and executing formative and summative user interface evaluations
Ensuring the usability engineering file complies to design control requirements and compliance standards
Identify unmet user needs
Develop personas for users and key stakeholders

Essentials:
A good understanding of Contextual Inquiry, Human Factors in design and Usability Engineering
Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary project team
Able to demonstrate a methodical and pragmatic approach
Able to work with team members who are located globally (USA)
Proven experience in an industry setting preferably in a product development environment
Knowledge of FDA and MDD requirements for the application of Human Factors to medical device design would be ideal
Willingness to travel across Europe and the United States
Able to demonstrate a complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field
Able to work independently, have good time-management skills and multi-tasking abilities
