As the CAD Team Leader you will be working as part of a dedicated team required to undertake a variety of roles associated with the creation and update of as built and operational drawings for our clients in the utilities industry (predominantly gas transportation).

This will be multi-disciplined to include electrical, instrumentation and mechanical drawings as well as displaying a positive ‘can do’ approach and leadership towards the wider Asset Data Services team.

Job Role & Responsibilities (but not limited to)

* CAD drafting (predominantly 2D) – e.g. control schematics, loop diagrams, hazardous area drawings.

* QA of drawings produced by team members, ensuring accuracy and correct application of standards.

* Interpretation of drawing mark ups and sketches produced by third parties.

* Produce drawing mark-ups from information supplied by third parties.

* Assistance in the preparation of estimates.

* Preparation of information to enable invoicing.

* Work allocation to team members.

* Responding to technical queries raised by team members.

* Submitting technical queries to clients.

* Document control.

* Managing and dealing with clients.

* Creation of status reports.

* Monitoring team productivity.

* Support and mentoring of junior team members.

Requirements & Experience

* An ONC equivalent or above qualification in electrical design.

* A proven level of electrical / instrumentation design work experience.

* Ideally have direct experience in the application of National Grid Gas Transmission drafting standards.

* Proficient in the use of Bentley Microstation CAD software (2D).

* Competent in the use of AutoCAD software.

* Experience of work within the regional and national gas transportation industry.

* Working knowledge of DSEAR.

* A willingness to learn and develop new skills if required.

* A high level of professional integrity.

* Self-motivated and discipline.

* Capable of exceptional attention to detail.

* Ability to accurately assess work scope and forecast output.

* Good verbal and written communication skills.

* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
