Software Testing - Lead Engineer / Manager, 6 month plus contract based in Derby, £neg to start asap

Working with one of the region’s largest employers who are now embarking on the busiest and most successful periods in their long history. You will help deliver some of the most technically advanced vehicles of their type, all designed developed and manufactured in Derby.

Leading a team of specialist software engineers in both techncial and operational aspects who are carrying out testing to ascertain its behavior and performance compared to the corresponding requirements specification. The tester ensures that the behavior and performance of the software corresponds with requirements of the design project.
At the system level, responsible for preparing, developing, executing and documenting hardware and software integration and system testing within a project or product maintenance tasks.
Examine and judge whether an item fits the user needs, especially in regards of safety, quality and operating environment. Ensure that the developed solution meets the requirements and is able to operate in the environment needed.

The Software Tester Technical Lead can fulfil the following roles out of Engineering Standard Roles:

- Software Tester
- Software Verifier
-Validator and Software Validator

Key responsibilities
1. Develop a validation plan and specify the essential tasks and activities for validation and agree this plan with the assessor, carry out audits, inspections or reviews on the overall project (as instantiations of the generic development process) as appropriate in various phases of development
2. Review the requirements against the intended environment/use and develop a system understanding of the system within the intended environment of application
3. Evaluate the conformity of the process and the outcome against the requirements of the EN standards and related IEEE standards and other markets.
4. Review the outcome against the system requirements to ensure that that all of these are fulfilled Review that developed solutions are traceable to the requirements Review and classify all deviations in terms of risk (impact), records and submit to the body responsible for change management and decision making
5. Evaluate final test results and give a recommendation on the suitability of the outcome for intended use and indicate any application constraints as appropriate. Give agreement/disagreement for the release of the software

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Master Degree in Engineering or equivalent
Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)
• Working experience must be 5-8 years.
• Specific knowledge in the areas of product safety and Validation (EN 50128, EN50657, SIRF, CSM, EN61508, TSIs, etc.), accreditation bodies and authorization process of railway vehicles
• Vehicle functions knowledge and deep knowledge of SW testing.
• Experience in project work / project management
• Experience in an international environment
• Ability to work in international teams
• leadership skills

Specialised or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role

• In-depth high proficiency of theories, practices, principles, concepts, procedures, processes, activities, tasks - in a fast-changing environment, in an area that is key to the business, in a technical and multiple subject area
• Knowledge of European and worldwide safety assurance, accreditation and authorization processes and infrastructure including relevant standards.
