Gap Personnel are currently recruiting for a Toolmaker / Time Served Toolmaker to join an Engineering department for a world class aerospace company based in Exeter, Devon. We are seeking someone who has just finished / due to finish an apprenticeship OR someone who has worked as a Toolmaker / Time Served Toolmaker for several years and are now seeking a new exciting career opportunity.

Our client develop and manufacture high performance, engineered products and solutions for the aerospace, industrial gas turbine, commercial transportation and oil and gas markets. If you want to join a company that breaks barriers and is at the forefront of engineering then this could be the role for you.

The annual salary is £29,672-£31,889pa depending on experience – this salary already includes a 12.5% shift allowance.

This is a permanent, full time position which attracts a shift rotation. You will work one week on 6.00am – 2.00pm and one week on 2.00pm – 10.00pm Monday to Friday.

There may be an opportunity for you to work day time hours if you have just completed an apprenticeship and need more training and supervision from a manager.

The annual salary is very competitive, offering a shift allowance on top and benefits include free parking and career development.

Key Responsibilities:

* assembling, fitting and repairing and maintain mould tools
* following engineering drawings
* competent in use of all hand tools
* using machinery such as lathes, drilling and milling machines and grinders
* Basic NC and CNC milling machines
* using measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers to check the tool’s dimensions
* monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line and address any necessary repairs or possible improvements
* attending machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problem
* mould tool planned maintenance
* manufacture small mould tools, jigs and fixtures
* Attention to detail
* Accuracy
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good math’s and basic IT skills

* Be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

* recognized toolmaking apprenticeship plus experience
* Mechanical Engineering qualification
* Basic NC / CNC Knowledge
* Ability to perform well under time constrains
* Competent at detailed and routine tasks
