Role Description

Job Title: Drainage Engineer
Reporting to: Drainage Manager

Job Purpose:
To design and deliver cost effective and technically sound design solutions for drainage renewal/maintenance schemes in accordance with the Forward Programme and Drainage Asset Management Plan.

·Identify and apply appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for Drainage schemes and studies to current standards.
·Prepare design calculations, drawings and tender/contract documents.
·Liaise with statutory and non-statutory bodies to obtain relevant licences, consents
·Liaise with other disciplines to identify hybrid schemes
·Prepare compulsory purchase and temporary traffic regulation orders.
·Prepare and review design calculations.
·Assistance with preparation required for the Value Management of Drainage Schemes.
·Maintain good relations with the Client and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary. Work within wider team to enable effective delivery of schemes and studies.
·Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with the general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Procedures Manual.
·Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
·Provide information to populate the risk register and update this information as the project develops.
·If not present within handover pack from the project promoter, responsible for submitting alert forms.
·Provide information to populate the Decision register and update this information as the project develops.
·Compiling and submitting departures.
·Seeking technical approval as required.
·Providing input to enable stakeholder liaison
·Ensuring trial holes are completed whenever stats may be present within the vicinity of works that will require excavation.
·Identifying TM needs and designing the requirements.
·Booking Roadspace.
·Compiling the briefs and providing information for RSA and WCHAR audits.
·Working with the WCHAR auditor as part of the design team.
·Completing CDM documentation.
·Ensuring an environment assessment is undertaken and then acting on its findings. Completing CEMP and SWMP documentation.
·Submitting TTRO applications

Typical Skills/Experience:
·Experience of highways maintenance and design preferential
·Good organisation skills
·Ability to work unsupervised
·The ability to communicate well in the written and spoken word is essential as is the ability to work well in a team environment.
·Ability to perform within a team
·Computer literate with competent ability and knowledge of MS Office Suite as a minimum
·Use of drainage software including WinDES.
·BEng in Civil Engineering

Useful knowledge of software packages:
·AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Revit, Navisworks
·Flow modelling experience
·Microsoft word/project/excel
·KTF / Moss
