Purpose of the Buyer role:
To effectively manage the supply chain to ensure we meet our customers’ requirements at all times. To ensure stakeholders are able to make informed decisions in order to achieve and maintain ‘On Time In Full’ installations at 95% and above and to increase stock turns for the procurement groups within remit through effective supplier relationship management.
The Buyer role involves:
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers
• Providing information in response to requests
• Effectively managing supplier relationships and performance
• Sourcing new/alternative suppliers and to proactively reviewing the category market to develop contingency plans
• Negotiating terms, conditions and prices for products
• Determining and negotiating appropriate SLAs for all suppliers with order values of >£75k
• Producing accurate purchasing forecasts
• Managing stock levels effectively
• Analysing and acting on relevant information so that stock-outs are avoided by sufficient materials being purchased at all times
• Managing the supply process, including credit agreements and payment processes in order to prevent avoidable disruption to the supply chain
• Ensuring price variations are accurately reflected in quotations and orders so that margins are maintained and business goals achieved

• Effective written and verbal communication
• Intermediate Excel capability with the ability to compile and use Excel spreadsheets including writing of formulae
• CIPS Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable
• Knowledge of Sage 500 and Sage 1000
• Ability to adapt to change and learn new standards and processes
