Engineering Estimator
Contract position

My client is a leading manufacturing company, Based in Wallsend, Tyne & Wear. They now have a requirement for an Engineering Estimator. Reporting to the Operations Director, You will be responsible for the preparation of reliable time, cost and labour estimates for products, projects and services.

The Role
- Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings, technical documents and regulatory body regulations.
- Review data to determine labour, material and sub-contract requirements and prepare itemised estimates.
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organising and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or sub-contractors and determine cost effectiveness.
- Prepare quotations and proposals.
- Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolves issues.
- request quotations and analyse sub-contractor quotes in consultation with purchasing to determine best alternative.

Applicant requirements.
- You will ideally hold relevant Engineering estimating experience in either shipbuilding, offshore fabrication or marine engineering.
- Ability to write reports, technical proposals and other correspondence.
- IT proficient and proven knowledge of MS office, excel, word, access and projects.
- Ability to maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders at all levels of the company, clients and suppliers.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel and have a flexible approach to working hours.
