General Insurance Supervisor

Purpose of the role

To support the General Insurance Manager by managing a team of General Insurance Advisers to achieve the required standards of performance in the production of quality sales that meet the company’s compliance requirements

Reports to – General Insurance Manager

Principal Accountabilities

Manage the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each member of their team.

* To achieve personal KPIs in accordance with the company’s requirements.
* To ensure the team and individual Advisers achieve performance standards of Quality, Production, Activity and Product Mix within an ethos of compliance and customer care.
* To ensure that all first line managerial duties are completed in respect of the company’s Training and Competence Scheme for each individual team member.
* Support in development, training and managing of staff within required company standards.
* To coach team members to realise their potential through continuous improvement.
* To maintain Competent Adviser and first line Supervisor status to effectively support the sales team.
* To carry out effectively all tasks delegated by the General Insurance Manager

Minimum Required Experience

* Track record of working for recognised General Insurance Broker or Direct Insurer.
* To have worked in a role providing General Insurance products particularly Buildings & Contents.
* To have achieved competent adviser status within their current or previous role
* Experience working on Building & Contents Teams is essential.
* A proven track record of managing a team or teams.
* Potential companies at which previous experience was gained could include (but not limited to) A-Plan, RAC, Direct Line, Aviva, LV, Brightside, Allianz and Europa.

Minimum Skills Required:

* Proven track record in delivering results
* Ability to troubleshoot
* Understands the need for a Customer Focus. Friendly, energetic and bright with a positive attitude.
* Able to absorb and drive change and continuous improvement.
* Strong people skills
* Resilient, excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Be able to demonstrate knowledge of sales process, open, sell and close.
* Ability to motivate, inspire and develop others, leading by example.
* A confident, strong, friendly personality
* Self-motivated with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit
* A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance

Desirable experience & Skills

* Experience working on other general insurance products, Motor, Travel and Pet Insurance would be advantage.
* A recognised CII qualification
* Experience of claims handling within the General Insurance industry would be preferable.
* Being able to develop any outbound sales techniques with structured training.
* Experience of recruitment.
* Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations
* Training within Emotional Intelligence framework
* Active evidence of promotion of equal opportunities within the work place
