Job overview:

As an IT Helpdesk Support Apprentice, you will support the company's user base, develop relationships with users and solve technical issues in a timely fashion whilst providing a friendly, helpful service.

Main role / duties:

Install and maintain computer hardware, workstations, laptops, audio/visual equipment and peripherals Maintain an up to date inventory of IT equipment, and ensure cleanliness of equipment Assist with the expansion of the school network infrastructure including switches, cabling and wireless network equipment Routine administration including, iPad maintenance, data backups, workstation health checks, anti-virus scans Software installation, maintenance and upgrading in line with the school development policy Maintain up to date computer images and deploy them where necessary using Acronis. Administration and development of Intranet (Firefly), digital signage (Xibo) To support staff and students with the use of IT including 1:1 iPad training and assisting with inset training where appropriate To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of IT equipment around the school Report any detected breach of the school’s IT acceptable use policy to the IT Network Manager To be aware of the school’s health and safety policy and to assist in carrying out the responsibilities detailed therein Changing of printer toners and basic troubleshooting (Paper jams, driver issues etc.) In-class support where appropriate To create new documentation/guides and to update existing documentation as necessary To assist with the set up AV equipment for lectures and presentations Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by the Network Manager

Desired qualities:

Experience of installing and maintaining PC hardware and software Experience of Microsoft operating systems and Office packages Experience of supporting end users Experience of troubleshooting network faults Health and safety awareness Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to take initiative Demonstrate good communication and organisational skills Ability to prioritise under pressure The willingness to make a contribution to the lives of the students, parents and staff at the school Be well motivated and reliable

Desired qualification requirements:

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject, plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above.

Working week:

5 days per week,

Monday - Friday,

9am – 5pm

37.5hrs per week [all details will be confirmed with the employer]


£9100 per annum

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.
