Swedish couple appeal for help after urn with son's ashes stolen in Cyprus

A Swedish couple have appealed for help after an urn containing their dead son’s ashes was stolen when they took it on holiday to Cyprus.

The pair had the wooden pot in a suitcase which was taken from their car as they ate outside a beach-side restaurant.

Police on the Mediterranean island said the thieves smashed the passenger's side window and grabbed the couple’s suitcases, which also contained 200 euros (£170).

In the appeal for information, authorities added that the urn had the inscription “Dennis 2000-2019".

The break-in happened on Friday while the unnamed couple – who live in Poland – visited the popular Governor's Beach area on the island's southern coast.
