Job Purpose:
The role is responsible to provide technical support and expertise to PT Metrology department. The role will work with the team on the development and standardisation of metrology strategies across all PT commodities so that mandatary measurement service can be provided to support new PT programme delivery. It will also provide technical support for the smooth operation of the recently launched PT Metrology Centre. For the second phase of the metrology facility deployment plan, the role is also responsible to work with the team to fully specify the strategic metrology facility in 2017/18FY and deploy the plan in 2018/19FY. The strategic facility will expand the technical offering of PT Metrology to battery inspection, materials testing, technical cleanliness, and Non-destructive testing. This is critical to support the launch and warranty return investigation for new products. The role has other responsibilities such as improving critical metrology engineering standards (Design for Metrology), developing cross functional standard metrology processes, identifying and leading metrology research projects, and developing metrology training programmes.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Engineering related degrees up to PhD level
• Experience of applying metrology skills and knowledge in solving engineering and manufacturing problems.
• Applied knowledge of NIST, ASME, ISO and other relevant metrology specifications/guidelines including but not limited to lab quality management system, measurement equipment capability qualification and verification, and uncertainty evaluation.
• Applied knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including both ISO and ASME standards.
• Sound form and surface measurement tolerancing knowledge will be an advantage
• Experience in metrology data analysis software such as CMM software packages, point cloud analysis software (GOM Inspection, Polyworks)
• Ideally broad applied knowledge in measurement systems such as CMM, structured light, portable metrology form measurement, X-ray CT, and surface texture.
• Ideally sound knowledge and experience in measurement uncertainty and its estimation
• Ideally applied knowledge in Six Sigma problem solving and statistical analysis Ideally broad knowledge in technical cleanliness inspection, Non-destructive Testing, materials testing and battery inspection
