Ethero Staffing is currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join an automotive supplier in Coventry for a fixed term contract 6 months. Your role will be to support the Quality Manager in the day to day running of the quality function, to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained at optimum costs, in order to enhance both company performance and a long-term business development. Role purpose is to take a lead role in project based quality initiatives.

Key Elements/Tasks

•Maintain and operate the TS16949 quality system, processes, procedures, including the interpretation and adoption of customer specific requirements
•Maintain and operate VDA 6.3 Internal Audit system and supporting techniques and practices
•Involvement internally and with suppliers in support of the design, specification, and commissioning of new machinery and inspection systems.
•Involvement in sourcing and capital approval activity for the Quality function
•Specification, installation and maintenance of CAQ (computer aided quality) systems, including the SPC management system.
•Application of quality core tools within the business to improve customer satisfaction and prevent quality concerns, including FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, APQP
•Complete audits in line with current company audit requirements. This may include TS16949, ISO14001, or other audit methods
•Involvement in continuous improvement activity to positively impact the KPIs of the business, including leading quality improvement teams
•Facilitate problem solving activity as necessary through the application of the Coventry problem solving methodology
•Support the corporate quality reporting aspects of the business
•Assist the Quality Manager with liaison with corporate quality to monitor, understand and implement quality initiatives into the business.
•Support Customer and 3rd party certification audits
•Manage customer APQP practices - including submission of customer documentation, all quality related aspects of the feasibility and gate zero processes, and as a point of liaison with the global VSG team
•Management of customer quality relationships, including on site visits worldwide, to support APQP / new business activity, and customer response management
•Develop and promote best Quality practices into business
•Manage and monitor customer databases regarding company performance
•Support quality activity across the VSG global locations, as necessary
•Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of self and others at all times.
•Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned in line with business needs.

Role Related Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Personal Attributes
Qualifications or Functional Experience
•HND qualification
•Experience gained in an automotive engineering background
•Automotive knowledge in SPC, FMEA 8D problem solving resolution and auditing.(Core tools)
•Quality audit qualificationDesirable
•Six sigma knowledge (Black belt preferred)
•Good knowledge and understanding of TS 16949 and Customer specific requirements
•Engineering based undergraduate or postgraduate degree
•Additional language (German / French preferred)
•Good level of financial / mathematical knowledge
•Experience of global work cultures and practices

System or Knowledge Essential

•PC literate
•Good working knowledge of Minitab
