This role falls under marine gas turbines, and will be supporting the systems and software development of aero engines, which have been adapted with shafts to drive propellers to be fitted onto marine applications (ships).

There may be an opportunity to become involved with Engine Health Monitoring projects.

Tasks:

Analyse and translate customer requirements into a set of validated and robust functional requirements for the system or sub-systems.

Producing functional specifications, both textual and through modelling and simulation, which are robust and mature, to be used as the basis for software generation.

Agile development of high quality software for rapid deployment into target hardware

Integration with continuous automated regression testing environment (Behaviour Driven Development)

Application of standards such as RTCA DO178, including compliance demonstration with the certification authorities.

Potential for involvement in entire system lifecycle from internal/external customer liaison and initial requirements capture, through to software creation and target-in-the-loop testing.

Key Experience and Qualifications.

Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and with knowledge / experience in the following areas is desirable:
•Experience in the use of Simulation and Modelling tools, in particular MATLAB and Simulink.
•Interfaces to Control and Monitoring Systems including common databus formats (Modbus Ethernet, CANbus).
•Experience of embedded code generation and integration to the target environment.
•Experience in development and integration of Human-Machine Interface applications.
•The phases of real time embedded software development to include design, coding, test and validation, preferably in safety critical environment
•Experience of developing automated tools for software generation and verification, using high level coding languages, e.g. Python, VBA, natural language parsers
•Systems Engineering tools and techniques, such as Robust Design and Requirements analysis.
•The ability to communicate effectively at all technical levels
