Main Purpose of the Role:

As a key member of the management team you will be responsible for the development of the Corporate Services Skill Group. Working alongside your peers, you will manage a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors such as Charities and Not-for-Profit organisations, Renewable Energy, Construction and Manufacturing companies. In this key position you will operate in a senior managerial role, reporting to the Partners of the firm, whilst overseeing other staff members within the Skill Group. You will drive forward initiatives that will contribute to the continued development within the Skill Group and within the firm.

You will be technically proficient and have a proven track record of managing teams. As a good communicator, you will have the ability to build strong working relations within the firm and externally with clients. Self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines, you will have excellent interpersonal, presentation and supervisory skills together with an ability to understand and respond promptly to clients’needs.

Main Responsibilities

Client Assignments:

- Managing and developing a portfolio of clients as well as providing assistance and support to others within the firm

- Taking responsibility for the effective communication with clients and colleagues

- Ensuring assignments are completed within agreed budgets

- Reviewing of work prepared by other members of staff

- Ensuring that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to

- Ensuring the firm’s professional standards are met

- Ensuring that work is presented to the partner in a complete and finalised format

- Providing an efficient and pro-active service to clients and ensure that the clients’needs are fully met

Business Development:

- Identifying technical issues as well as selling opportunities to Partners of the firm

- Participating in tenders/proposals for new work as required

- Developing work from existing clients by working closely with Partners and staff of the firm

- Participating in wider marketing and business development activities for the development of the Skill Group and the wider development of the firm

- Attending networking events, etc. and developing professional relationships with clients,others within the firm, and with other local professional firms and potential clients.

- Paying attention to self-development and continuing professional education

- Consulting with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters.

Management Competencies:

- To work as part of the management team and provide effective supervision to all members within the Corporate Services Skill Group

- To assist in the provision of training to staff

Personal Specification

Education and Qualifications:

- Professional qualification (CA) or equivalent experience


- Experience at working at a high level to support the Partners

- Experience of key sectors such as Charities and Not-for-Profit organisations

- Management and supervisory experience

- Experience of managing and developing a client portfolio

- Good letter writing and report writing skills

- Actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients and identifying opportunities for non-clients

- Experience in delivering training to staff and potential clients

- Experience of presenting advice orally, in writing and over the telephone

- Ability to think laterally and imaginatively to seek the range of options available to clients

- Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadlines and priorities

- Experience of coaching and mentoring colleagues

- Good experience of business development
