We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a 2nd Line Migration Engineer for our Client based in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing 2nd Line Support to the end user in both lead up and post migration activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive process improvement and streamline activities where applicable
- Ensure all migration work streams, key stakeholders and external vendors complete their relevant tasks prior to migration, questioning any discrepancies
- Escalate and manage the evening migration given any external outages or factors impacting migration
- Maintain audit trails of all migration events, providing logs and evidence for reporting purposes
- Contribute to knowledge tools and sharing, ensuring learnings are documented
- Ensure interdependencies are raised quickly and addressed
- Communicate the migration status in preparation for migration activities
- Run scripts and use appropriate tooling to perform nightly migrations
- Respond to customer generated incidents/ change requests, resolving any problems that occur
- Be able to apply experience and subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex issues within established guidelines, offering appropriate alternatives where necessary
- Be able to meet Service Level Agreements
- Have sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be responsible for the design and scope of deliverables within your field or expertise
- Ad hoc tasking as required

Essential Skills:
- Ability to collaborate with teams across the organisation
- Ability to lead technical interchange meetings
- Ability to translate technical details into a concise and easy to read written format, for example, a work instruction
- Can translate verbal requirements from face to face meetings into documents, statement of works and proposals
- Work within a team to provide written responses to technical proposals and deliver these to the Technical Lead
- Good knowledge/ understanding of the following:
o Wintel Server and Desktop Operating systems
o Active Directory
o MS Exchange
o Network Migrations
o DHCP
o DNS
o SCCM
o Deployment, configuration, testing and administration of Server OS and Hardware
o Networking, Storage and Server peripherals
o Infrastructure technologies, for example, virtualisation and clustering
- Awareness of ITIL practices and processes

Education

Essential:
- Must hold current Microsoft qualifications

Desired:
- 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/ Science degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related area of study (8+ years professional experience without a degree)
- ITIL or other relevant qualifications

Due to the business needs of this role the successful candidate must have existing security clearance or be able to attain security clearance. If applicants do not currently have security clearance they must have photographic ID in the form of a passport or driving license, that is in date and reflects the applicants current address. Proof of address would also be required in the form of 2 bills dated within the last 3 months.
