Job Title: Solution Architect; Networks

Salary:Up to £65K plus 15% flexible benefit fund

Location: Salisbury

Role overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Network Solutions Architect with strong experience in a network/infrastructure design role to be part of a complex and large secure site where you will be part of a team that defines the solutions architecture for medium to large scale, complex, specialised pre-sales assignments. You will define the solutions architecture for these complex assignments and will have a direct influence on profitability in your particular field. The field can relate to a variety of areas such as knowledge of a particular industry, technology, product, profession or skills area such as sales, account management or purchasing. This role will typically be responsible for the provision of advice on policy implementation through scenario planning or resource modelling to inform strategic choices in decision making. You must be cleared to SC level or be eligible and be willing and eligible to progress to DV clearance for this prime position.

Key responsibilities

  • Define scope and deliverables for assignments with 'client’ for the definition and execution of solutions architectures to integrate all of a client’s requirements

  • Deliver assignment in accordance with agreed scope, time, financial and quality measures

  • Ensure effective client engagement and stakeholder management during assignment

  • Complete assignment review with 'client’ at the end of each and every assignment (or six monthly for long term assignments)

  • Track market trends and competitor activities

  • Share personal knowledge of 'specialist areas’ through 'special interest groups’ and other forums.

  • Identify and manage risk

  • Define and analyse user requirements and advise customers on scope and options for business and operational improvements.

  • Present complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare and deliver briefings and presentations for project teams, management and customers.

  • Good working knowledge across four of the five POPIT (Process, Organisation, People, Information, Technology) channel disciplines and sound working knowledge of two.

  • Modelling, analysis and design techniques and approaches

  • Produce solution architecture

  • Define solution performance and specify requirements

  • Produce stakeholder focused models of the solution

Essential skills

  • Cisco Routing, Switching and Firewalling platforms.

  • Documentation and presentation skills including an understanding of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF.

  • Almost any network related technology or protocol, a deep understanding of the underlying concepts, not just the leading vendor’s implementation.

  • Strong knowledge of the following is particularly desirable.

Virtualisation platforms, especially VMware

Software Defined Networking especially Cisco ACI

High Performance Computing

High grade Cryptography

Windows enterprise networking e.g. active directory.

Wireless networking

  • Cisco AnyConnect secure remote access

  • Strong experience in a network/ infrastructure design role as multiple areas of technology

  • is required. This position requires a broad skill set across networking and security.

  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)

  • SC Cleared. Eligible for DV
