Java Developer £42,000 - £48,000 dependant on experience + package with flexible working

Located in the highly prestigious St Peter's Square development in the city centre, Distrelec are establishing their new Enterprise Hub and hiring Java Developers.
The Enterprise Hub will be the European home of the Development and Digital functions for Distrelec, providing state of the art e-commerce solutions.
Distrelec, part of the Datwyler group, is a leading online distributor for electronics, automation, measurement technology, IT and accessories in Europe and the exciting new Enterprise Hub in Manchester will be its first operational presence in the UK.

The role:

In your new role you will be responsible for developing Java based software on a SAP Hybris E-Commerce platform. You will be reporting directly into the Senior Developer and a Development Manager on upcoming projects and technical challenges. This business operates in a fast-paced start-up culture and as a result you will be expected to identify and resolve issues independently of senior management.

Key accountabilities:

The Java Software Engineer will take on a pivotal role in the agile team to plan, develop, test and maintain software solutions to agreed time-scales and quality standards. There are a number of new projects being rolled out across the business meaning the technical landscape is changing at pace as a result new technologies and build methods will need to be researched and implemented regularly.

As a Java Software Engineer you will also be expected to become a subject matter expert for any Java or Hybris related queries from Junior Developers or Senior Management and will have a position of influence in discussions relating to new projects.

Skills & experience:

In order to succeed within this role you will need knowledge or experience of the following:

Essential:

  • Advanced Java or J2EE skills
  • Strong understanding of large scale e-commerce systems
  • An understanding of implementing and working within an Agile environment


Desirable:

  • Demonstrable experience of developing the Hybris platform.
