The company

Award winning Canterbury based Software Company has a vacancy for a Software Developer.

We have a unique technology offering in the eCommerce space, which is why the blue chip list of clients is growing.

The role is an exciting one, for a deep thinking graduate to build on your existing Computer Science degree and to become expert in advanced OO thinking; and play a leading role in the core design choices of our unique software platform.

You'll be working on the 3 week Agile development cycle of our complex software engine, alongside a highly expert team including PhDs: you will learn fast from them helped by our use of pair-programming: and will be exposed to best-practise such as a Unit Testing focus, Agile release-management and advanced architecture thinking.

The Person:

You'll have a Computer Science degree - been highly proficient in all the OO programming you have done so far, and have a strong desire to learn state of the art software development approaches.

You will have strong analysis skills, like problem solving, and well designed, well architected solutions. Can compare and contrast the OO features of several languages, perhaps as Java, C++, C#, Ruby, Python.

You combine the above with having good team skills so that you can contribute fully to our processes including: pair-programming, daily scrum meetings, 3-weekly iteration retrospectives, and as a self-managing team we do estimating together.

Proficiency in Linux / LAMP is advantageous, but not vital.
