We are looking to appoint a motivated, flexible, proactive and committed mathematics specialist to head our client’s mathematics department. The successful candidate will be passionate about mathematics, creative, innovative and have strong interpersonal skills. The ability to inspire, nurture and give children confidence in mathematical skills is vital. A willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential, with all staff playing a part in this important aspect of pupil of the experience. You will be required to teach at least one other subject in KS2

Responsible to: Head

Purpose: To teach and to lead and manage the teaching of mathematics throughout the school.

To also teach in KS2 a 2nd subject (TBC).

In co-operation with, and under the guidance of, the Head to…

  • Support the vision, ethos and policies of the school
  • Support the creation and implementation of the school development plan and to take responsibility for appropriately delegated aspects of it
  • Support the evaluation of the effectiveness of school policies and developments and comment on their impact on delegated areas

Professional Duties and Responsibilities: In the academic curriculum

  • To keep up to date in new developments in the subject’s teaching and the curriculum
  • To monitor and support other teachers of maths
  • To set the syllabus, prepare schemes of work
  • Plan and prepare work tailored to the individual needs of the child
  • Teach using methods appropriate to the needs of the individual child, using a variety of learning strategies involving different mediums e.g library , ICT
  • Monitor and evaluate the effort, work standards and organisation of children. Keep records and see that relevant action is undertaken
  • Report on progress to parents, colleagues and children

Within the pastoral care policy

  • Maintain good order and self-discipline among pupils for their own safety and health
  • Deal appropriately with sickness and injury
  • Treat pupils with respect and compassion and encourage pupils to respect themselves and others
  • Consider health and safety issues

By general administration through

  • Planning
  • Reporting
  • Attending staff meetings, parents’ evenings and other school functions
  • Carrying out supervisory duties as required
  • Auditing resources
  • Maintaining school records as necessary
  • Organising and maintaining a stimulating and attractive school environment and updating resources as required

Hours: A Teacher will work the hours that have been agreed in your contract. These hours can be varied to meet the educational and operational needs of the School.
