Working as a Software Support Desk Engineer for a forward thinking and dynamic software company in the City, you will be responsible for troubleshooting software and database application faults for customers on the East Coast of America .

The role will be covering night shift only (530pm-1:30am) therefore please only apply if you are happy with this. This may change further down the line however these will be the initial hours to cover time differences.

As part of their exciting global expansion plan, a new and exciting role has been defined to expand their support and engineering team. The successful candidate will not only join a market leader, but will ensure it delivers service excellence to its customers.

The Support Desk Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for the company software / server applications and platform services in the UK, USA and internationally. There will be two people on this team, and we'd ideally like to source an engineer that has a bias towards MySQL, MSSQL and some MS Server support skills as the other other engineer is more voice & data bias.

The server environment at the moment is Microsoft focused, but they will gradually moving more towards AWS so any exposure here would be great.

What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Head of Support, the major responsibilities of this Support Desk Engineer are:
*fault troubleshooting over the phone, by email and using their Portal System for the semi bespoke software applications and products provided by the company.
*Troubleshooting any issues or implementing changes related to their Software Suite - ideally with focus on database (MySQL)
*Ensuring an extremely high level of service is provided to clients
*Working with 3rd party hardware and software and service suppliers, as well as telecoms carriers for fault resolution, owning and managing escalations

Who are you?
A software support engineer, flexible to work shifts that are likely to rota in the future but technically, has solid MySQL, MSSQL, AWS or general Microsoft Windows Server support experience. This role could well suit an engineer that is looking to move more formally towards either DevOps or Systems Admin moving forward.

Most importantly though, you will have a can-do attitude with great personal skills and a willingness to learn and grown with the company. As the role will also involve shift work and supporting clients globally, you will need to be self-motivated and comfortable managing your own workload.

*Strong customer interaction capabilities on the phone, face-to-face, through email, and via ticket/case management.
*Enjoying and being proud of their work, as well as being part of a team.
*Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly understand customer requirements.
*Great organisation skills. Know what to do, and when, and how to plan their work-day.

*Proven ability to step back and ask "How can we make this better".
