My Client based in North Leicestershire is offering a brilliant opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to be a reason this comany dominates the market place for years to come! It all starts in Manufacturing and Production!

My client, based in North Leicestershire, is a leader in manufacturing Welding and Compressed Air products from light trade to heavy-duty industrial use. The have nearly 50 years experience in the market, have have earned the respect of their customer base through each year.

Their experience in industrial products has allowed for the range to be broadened over the last 5 decades. Today, this includes Welding, Metalwork, Battery Chargers & Starters, Booster Packs, Air Compressors & Air Tools, Automotive Equipment, Pressure Washers, Water Pumps, Heaters, Generators, Lighting and Woodworking equipment.

The position of Purchasing Manager within the Manufacturing and Production function, out of North Leicestershire will entail:

Stock Management

Forecasting levels of demand to ensure stock arrives on time and stocks are at optimum levels. Proactively work with Sales & Marketing to limit overstocks and to exit obsolete lines.

Buying Monitoring

Systematically obtain and compare alternative quotations for all existing product (stock and non-stock). Objective is to achieve price reductions to increase SIP profit margin.

New Products

Source and negotiation of new products (specification, price, payment terms, etc).
Follow new product through from start to introduction into marketplace, working with other departments to ensure proper launch.

Vendor Rating System

Apply rating system to all key suppliers. Especially work with Technical department to determine product Returns rate and claim for problems.

Visit Overseas Suppliers & Trade Shows

Source and assess new suppliers & products. Work with existing suppliers to overcome any ongoing issues.


Negotiate promotional prices
Work with Sales and Marketing on future sales promotions to ensure new products are included and the right products are promoted at the right time.

Buying Office
The management of Buying office and all its functions. Manage 2-3 other members of staff .

Market Analysis
Monitor competitor activity to ensure a thorough understanding of the marketplace.

Margin Analysis
Work closely with the Sales Manager to provide purchasing input when setting sales prices.

Other Duties
Any reasonable duties, which from time to time may be required.
