The Opportunity

Would you be interested in the opportunity to join a billion pound Energy Management company that design, manufacturer and service all of their products? One of the world's largest Energy companies are looking to expand their engineering team that focus on HV, LV and Switchgear. Our client are forward thinking, and voted in the top 25 companies to work for worldwide. If you have an electrical background installing switchgear/transformers (400v-132kv) into substations then this could be right for you.

The Role

We are looking for a number of electrically biased engineers to join the Field Engineering team to be based in the North West. The company has just been given the green light on two major contracts overseeing four hundred sites across the North West so you'll definitely be kept busy.

Typical Duties

Technical:

*You'll be tasked with installing switchgear and transformers into substations on the client site.
*Servicing of existing substations
*Fault finding
*Maintenance
*Replacement of busbars
*Installation of relay panels
*Installation and testing of Low and Medium Voltage electrical distribution equipment (Switchgear and transformers)
* Good practical Electrical and Mechanical skills

Commercial:

*Pre visits to assess access requirements.
*Assist in preparation of bills of material.
*Control of Sub contractors when required.
*Provide out of hours support on a rota basis.
*Create and issue test documentation and reports.
*Support the commercial colleagues as required.
*The ability and confidence to work alone on own initiative

Voltage wise, you'll have had some exposure in the past between 400v - 132kv, but it's not essential that you have covered this entire voltage range.

You`ll present a professional and efficient image to customers and will be providing technical support to internal and external customers when asked.

Ideal location will be the North West and the majority of the work is in that area but you`ll need to be flexible regarding travel. There may be times when you have to stay away a couple of nights a week so you'll have to be up for that.

Industry Leading Package

The company really look after you and view employment as a long term game, the package includes the following;

*£35k - £36k (may stretch a little more for someone with right experience)
*Annual bonus
*Salary review
*Overtime (most engineers earn £45k including OT)
*Van + Fuel
*Pension
*Share Scheme
*28 days holiday + 8 holidays
*Healthcare
*Life insurance

The Progression

Our client look to invest the best part of £30-£50k in every new employee over your initial and ongoing training periods with them. Some of the training may take place in Europe and also in other areas in the UK for at least the first 3 months so you'll need to be comfortable with a little travel to begin with.

This will all be paid for and you'll be put up in nice hotels, while this training takes place, not to mention how it will look in terms of qualifications gained on your CV.

Long term the plan is to get you up to AP (Authorised Person) level which again ensures you a decent increase in pay and responsibility. This won't happen overnight but it's worth putting out there right, so sets expectations on long term opportunities which are notoriously great with this company.
