Premier Work Support is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a large production plant, based in Basildon. You will be responsible for planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, adhering to strict health and safety procedures at all times, you will also provide guidance to semi-skilled Maintenance team members.

Within the role you will be expected to carry out repair of equipment breakdowns effectively and efficiently, to plan and carry out planned preventative maintenance on all plant and equipment, aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with zero unplanned down time. You will be expected to supervise the daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance inspections and conduct safety compliance inspections, whilst maintaining records. You will need to ensure that programmed work is completed on time to the satisfaction of business requirement. Adhere to health and safety, environmental and other standards, as they apply to the process, also adhere to safe working practice and procedures including and not limited to lockout, tag out, confined space and working at heights.

Also within the position you will be required to develop and document training material to facilitate transfer of skills and knowledge and provide training, work direction and guidance. You will need to maintain effective and economical control of critical spares for all key processes and assist the Electrical Engineer with required tasks.

For this position you will be required to hold a minimum NVQ level 3 qualification in a suitable mechanical engineering subject and have knowledge of welding practices, with at least 2 years experience within a similar position. You will need to have the ability to operate a variety of equipment including loaders, forklifts, high lifts, cranes and cherry pickers. It would be advantageous to have experience of hydraulics and pneumatics. You will need to have experience of working with engineering drawings and report writing.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to follow written instructions, keep accurate records and have an awareness of health & safety. You will need to have the ability to work well within a team, be self-disciplined and the ability to prioritise work load.

This role will be on a shift rota covering nights, the hours of work are 6:00pm to 6:00am.
