Ocado & General Merchandise

Ocado is the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer. We operate a unique centralised distribution business model which has enabled us to challenge the traditional bricks and mortar grocers and grow to over £1.2bn of retail sales last year. Ocado aims to monetise our pioneering model by licensing our IP through Ocado Smart Platform (OSP), in a similar fashion to our deal with Morrison’s.

Here in General Merchandise we generate revenue by listing an extensive range of non-food products on and by opening new websites that allow us to trade in new categories and reach new customers. We opened in 2013, a specialist pet store, then launched in 2014, a cookware and dining store, and last year opened a premium beauty venture in association with Marie Claire. Launching Fabled also saw Ocado makes its first significant venture into physical retailing with a store in London’s West End.
