Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Consultant

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire

Salary: Up to £43,000 + £8,000 Car Allowance + benefits

I have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Senior IT Engineer / Consultant with my key client based in Berkshire. My client supplies a range of managed services, hosted telephony and telecoms to small to medium sized commercial businesses and local government clients. With an excellent reputation for outstanding service they have an ever expanding client base and are looking to recruit a Senior Engineer to help them as they grow as a business.

As Senior IT Engineer/Consultant your time will be split between BAU support, pre-sales work and hands-on deployment, you will also act as an escalation point and mentor for the technical support team. This position will suit a well accomplished and experienced technical engineer that has an outstanding attention to detail and wants to move towards a more customer orientated consultative role.

A key aspect of the role will be to work alongside the BAU Service Desk and engineering team to provide IT support to our customer base. For a very diverse base of technology you will act as a point of escalation and also take part in day-to-day Service Desk activity working with our customers to resolve complex issues and making recommendations for long term fixes and improvements. This role is the 'go-to' person for all IT related challenges and must be able to pick up the baton whether familiar with a particular technology or not, we are looking for an engineer with an aptitude that means they can apply themselves to any technical task in a logical, methodical manner.

The successful applicant will be organised, have a passion for technology and a solid understanding at an expert level of the following technologies;

  • Microsoft Server Technologies
  • SAN Technologies
  • Virtualisation (VMWare or Hyper-V)
  • Office 365
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • General networking knowledge is a must, basic routing, firewall and switching concepts
  • Cisco configuration knowledge is desirable

You will be a self-starter, able to work in customer environments with minimal documentation or guidance and will understand the concept of good service and that maximising uptime for our customers is imperative.
