CloudScope are working with a global leader of outsourced business solutions. We are looking for experience Java Developers to work within the busy Global Technology Services team in Colchester. Dedicated to Enabling growth through technology based services and driving innovation both internally and externally whilst creating value for their customer.

As an Oracle Database Developer, you will work primarily on data warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions, working in collaboration with colleagues developing Enterprise Business Applications. You will be part of a motivated team to push forward the development of a range of key strategic, enterprise scale platforms and customer-focused projects. Platforms are primarily built on a Java stack, with Oracle databases and using a variety of open source technologies

The Role

  • Code, configure, correct, and document applications/ code enhancements which meet defined specifications in accordance with standards and guidelines
  • Working on numerous global projects simultaneously
  • Engage with the Business Analysts and Project Managers, to understand, clarify and confirm requirements and high-level technical overview
  • Engage with Lead Developers / Solutions Architects to understand, clarify and confirm the design and architecture
  • Work with existing Data Architect to assist in the design of the Physical Data Model (PDM) (based on the Logical Data Model (LDM))
  • To create mappings between PDM and LDM
  • Write business logic in PL SQL packages
  • Build and maintain ETL jobs using scripting and ETL tools
  • Offer Oracle development assistance and guidance where needed
  • Identify applicable system platform, components, and dependencies
  • Provide uniform integration into legacy systems
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to meet the needs of the business, ensuring interface specifications are included in completed deliverable
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications
  • Agile Development methodology

The Candidate

  • Degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with Oracle database
  • PLSQL programming skills
  • Expert knowledge of Relational Database Management system tools SQL*Net, PL/SQL, SQL
  • Knowledge of ETL code and tools, ideally knowledge of Clover
  • Expertise in Oracle performance tuning
  • Sound knowledge of operating systems, specifically Linux
  • Understanding of N tier application architectures
