The Role
*My client is on an evolving journey driving the next phase of their Cyber Security defence implementation. They run a complex environment that hosts and facilitates world class research that places them in the top 1% of their filed globally.
*You will support the vision that Cyber Security is a core service to them in the protection of its information and its assets; you will relish solving real world challenges by proactive and consultative working. You will be working within the framework of Information Security management based upon ISO 27001 and also CIS's Critical Security Controls.

*My client will be undertaking a significant shift in its protection arrangements for Cyber Security and privacy protection requirements, this position represents a significant and rewarding opportunity for assisting in that change.

The Person
*You will bring to the role your relevant knowledge and experience of IT Security best practice including; a background in Network Support or Security with ideally experience of configuration, risk management and support.
*Your skills would be supported by a demonstrable understanding and experience across IT Security or Operations which may include firewalls, security standards, processes and policies within a large and diverse environment.
*Your ability to understand and apply data protection frameworks which may include ISO 27001, CSC Critical Security Controls, and PCI DSS which have significant added value to the University would complement your structured thinking and working approach.
*Vulnerability scanning techniques and mitigation methods would ideally be something you have had experience or exposure to and if not be able to demonstrate the ability to acquire.
*Your responsiveness to actual or potential security incidents and breaches would be an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to cyber security and the role itself. Your ability to reflect and propose improvements to avoid future incidents would be your instinctive response.

You Must Have
*Demonstrable operational understanding of secure network communications, data encryption, Switching, Routing and Firewall Security.
*General understanding of enterprise level server and storage hardware including its management, support and security
*Demonstrable understanding in systems administration of enterprise level server operating systems, including Linux and Microsoft Windows Server
*Formalised Risk Management Methodologies

At least 3 of the following
-Information Asset Management
-Secure configurations of software ( Windows / Linux)
-Vulnerability Assessment, Remediation and resolution management.
-Secure Network configuration - Firewall, Router Management, DMZ etc.
-Malware Defence
-Access Control techniques
-Data Recovery and destruction techniques
-Security Skills assessment and training needs analysis
-Risk based limitation of network Controls and Protocols
-Controlled Use and monitoring of Administrative privileges
-Boundary Defence controls
-Audit Log management and review
-Account Monitoring and Control
-Penetration and Red team exercises
-Data Protection Systems and Processes

My client are looking to offer a competitive salary between £30,000 and £36,000
