Assistant Manager/Counter Hand

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Assistant or Customer Service professional to work with one of our clients in their tools and fixings store based in Bishops Stortford. This position would suit a confident team player with can do attitude and a willingness to learn and succeed. The role will involve some team leading so initiative and ability to think on your toes are essential.

Salary - £20k - £22k depending on experience, Hours - 7:30am to 5:30pm, with 1 hour lunch break & 8am to 12pm every third Saturday.


  • Customer Service
  • Stocking up of shop area and checking perishable items are rotated
  • Assisting with deliveries in and out of the store
  • Dealing with any telephone queries
  • Responding to emails in a professional manner
  • Effectively communicating with customers and colleagues
  • Processing customers orders and money handling
  • Ordering stock
  • Update company promotions in the showroom to increase sales
  • Keeping the store clean & tidy at all times
  • Take charge of the running of the store in Managers absence

Required skills & experience

  • At least 1 years Sales or Customer Service experience
  • Excellent customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all level
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Well organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise own workload
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Friendly and professional telephone manner
  • IT literate
