My client in Fareham, Hampshire are seeking to improve its product portfolio. They are looking for people to join their award-winning team to lead the production of high quality data visualisation creation, some of a standalone nature but more often than not as part of a data journalism function.

The post-holder will work within an interdisciplinary team, including designers, data journalists, to generate ideas and translate these into engaging pieces of content. The chosen candidate will be degree qualified, with a strong numerate component, or equivalent experience.

They are looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Good numeracy and basic analytical skills
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of specialists
  • Experience using basic data processing and analysis tools (e.g. Excel)
  • Some programming skills (e.g. if/else statements, do loops, code debugging) and a demonstrable aptitude to quickly learn new programming languages
  • Experience of working effectively in a team
  • Experience of managing their own workload to meet changing priorities
  • Experience in the effective communication of messages within data (e.g via charts)
  • Some experience of web development languages (eg Web Development
  • Some experience of data visualisation libraries and tools (e.g d3js, Mapbox, Leaflet, Raphaël)

The post holder will be given training and mentoring but the following skills are very welcome:

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary designers and/or editorial teams
  • Working within a fast-paced Agile project management environment
  • Advanced data visualisation and web development experience
  • Use of industry standard design tools such as Adobe CS

The maximum salary on offer is £28,450 per annum. Generous holiday allowance - 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years service in addition to 9 public holidays. As well as this, you can expect to enjoy;
