Director of IT (Operations and Infrastructure)
The Mill Hill Foundation offers independent co-educational day and boarding education to pupils aged from 3-18 across 4 schools based on a large parkland site at Mill Hill in North London. Founded in 1807 the school has a long and proud history of academic excellence coupled with cultural, sporting and social development and the effective deployment of IT systems and infrastructure across the school estate plays a key role in giving the pupils and staff an exceptional IT user experience to support learning and operational activity.
The Foundation is now seeking to appoint a Director of IT with responsibility for providing strategic IT leadership whilst driving the effective and innovative use of IT across the organisation. The Director of IT will be responsible for leading for a team of Network and IT support specialists presently providing services and support in excess of 1500 hundred staff and pupils across four main sites located in Mill Hill and will lead a strategic review of the present IT infrastructure and the way that services are provided to the user base. The Director of IT will be tasked with delivering a first-class operational IT infrastructure and user experience, establishing the requirements of the Foundation through consultation and communication with the pupil and staff population. The post holder will also drive engagement with IT, actively seeking areas for improvement whilst developing and managing the delivery of user training and engagement programmes across all level of user as part of enhancing the use of IT across the Foundation.
As Director of IT you will have the technical background and knowledge required to fully realise the Foundation’s vision for a user centric IT infrastructure which meets and exceeds senior management and user expectations for performance, availability and resilience. You will also have a background in service delivery with a clear vision on how IT services should be delivered to derive maximum value from existing levels of investment as well as guiding how future budgeting decision can have a most effectively impact delivery of the overall IT strategy for the Foundation. Other areas of responsibility include Disaster recovery planning, security and access policies, management of 3rd party contractors and suppliers, budgetary management and project management.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills gained within an IT infrastructure environment
- Excellent overall IT networking, platforms and systems knowledge
- Experience in a managerial role as Head of IT or IT Manager or IT Director
- Experience of multi site, multi access IT user environment
- Strong Change and Project Management skills
