Forward Role Recruitment Technology Division are recruiting on behalf of a key IT Outsourcing company who have a presence across 5 continents and employ over 400 IT professionals who provide local support onsite. Due to business expansion, they have an urgent requirement for a 3rd Line Desktop Support Engineer to be based in central Manchester.

The successful 3rd Line Desktop Support Engineer will be based onsite with a client who are a huge player in the Sports and Leisure sector and are close to becoming a global brand. They have offices based in Manchester, London, USA, Australia and South East Asia and this role is integral in ensuring service levels and all service providers are contributing to performance.

Technical skills required:


  • Windows 10, 2008 / 2012 / 2016 configuration and administration
  • Active Directory configuration and administration for operational and security schemas, including Group Policy management
  • Experience with Exchange 2010 / 2013 configuration and administration
  • Experience with Office 365 and Azure cloud configuration and administration
  • Hyper-V configuration, administration and management
  • SCCM, SCOM 2010, 2012 configuration and administration
  • VMware administration
  • SharePoint server administration
  • Experience with DR/Backup recovery solutions
  • NAS storage – NetApp/Dell/HP administration
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration, with the ability to read and understand common TSQL
  • Competent knowledge of LAN, WLAN and VPN networking technologies and configurations
  • Creation of technical support documentation (design, transition, operate)
  • Excellent communications skills, especially during incident management


  • Knowledge of Service Management processes e.g. ITIL
  • Create and extend data architecture standards and best practices
  • Tune performance to ensure that the servers are scalable and efficient
  • Relevant industry certifications relating to Infrastructure technologies
  • An ability to clearly and evidently demonstrate a career path supported by professional development goals

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in 3rd line Support and Project Deployment in transitioning and stabilised environments
  • Degree educated in a relevant IT discipline
  • Microsoft MCSE in Server Administrator or Enterprise Administrator qualification

In return for your expertise the successful 3rd Line Desktop Support Engineer can expect as salary of £30,000 plus package
