General Ledger Leader | Sutton Coldfield | 33K - £38K

Penns Personnel have an urgent requirement for a General Ledger Accounting Leader to join one of our International clients based in the centre of Sutton Coldfield, within their accounts processing department.

The Position

  • Responsible for the direction, execution and performance of the General Ledger Accounting (RTR) function, including Restaurant Accounting, Month End Close, Fixed Assets, and Project Accounting.
  • Contributes to setting and executing short-term and long-term strategy for General Ledger Accounting (RTR)
  • Technical expertise within General Ledger Accounting (RTR) with a broad knowledge of other functional areas
  • Solving unique and complex problems impacting the business with regard to General Ledger Accounting (RTR), with the ability to develop methods to address current and future customer needs
  • Partner with finance to ensure team is providing proper reporting to finance and other departments

Duties will include:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the General Ledger Accounting (RTR) team responsible for the day to day execution of the General Ledger Accounting (RTR) processes, including fixed asset accounting processes and fixed asset and projects and accurate monthly financial statements for all company owned restaurants, departments and other areas of responsibility
  • Achievement and delivery of specific goals and operational performance metrics and measures, including assessing overall and individual achievement of service expectations and customer satisfaction.
  • Effective resolution of queries/quality of advice. Regularly gather feedback from internal and external customers and proactively manage issue resolution in order to resolve escalated items.
  • Handle a range of often complex tasks, resolving customer queries, providing information and processing/reconciling data.
  • Ensure that the team is appropriately trained on existing and new processes and procedures.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of the team. Facilitates and leads the team in solving complex problems and identifying innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of processes and procedures relevant to the function and takes a proactive role in improving efficiency. Plan and conduct best practice, improvement and review sessions with key clients and stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified to Chartered Accountant, or equivalent status.
  • Extensive technical expertise - 8+ years in accounting
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Analytical thinking and detail oriented
  • Proven track record for driving process efficiencies and problem solving
  • End-to-end understanding of General Ledger Accounting (RTR) processes and technical systems
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures and standards
  • Strong Excel skills
