Sous Chef Required - Fal Esturary - £20K - £25K

We have a fantastic oportunity for a motivated and enthsiastic Sous Chef looking for a new challenge in very scenic South West Cornwall along the Fal Esturary.

Our client owns a stunning restaurant set to the backdrop of the famous Fal Esturary, Clear water, sail boats meanering up and down the river bordered by rolling green hills. What could be a more idyllic setting to enjoy stunning food and good company? Our client is looking for a Sous Chef who has expereince in a similar role and looking for a new venture. The menu has a modern british theme running throughout from classic pizza's and pastas to salads and fresh locally caught seafood dishes. Along with normal day to day service offering up delicious lunches and dinner you may also be called upon to complete function catering for weddings and other special occasions.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a sous chef role within a similar bistro, restaurant setting. You will be needing to assist in the running of the kitchen and take over on the head chef's days off. You will need to be able to bring new and fresh ideas to the table and impliment new dishes to keep the specials board looking fresh and exciting. You must have experience of composing rota's and costings along with a knowledge of budgeting to support the kitchens GP percentage. You will be required to work 5 days of 7 and covering a mixture of straight and split shifts. Normal straight hours are between 12pm and 10.30pm.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the head chef in the daily running of a busy kitchen and running the kitchen in the head chefs absence
  • being a vital role in the daily production of all food both hot and cold
  • The daily service of all food
  • To abide by and promote all food and hygine regulations
  • To assist with ordering and rotas as instructed
  • Input into menu planning and costing

Key Skills:

  • Evidence of previous senior role in kitchen
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • knowledge of seasonal foods
  • To be a team player demonstrating flexibility and development

  • pressurised and fast working environment
  • An all round ability in cooking and being able to turn your hand to any section

The salary for this role is between £24,000 and £26,000 depending on experience. This is a permanent role.
