You have the chance to join a growing food manufacturing business that have invested heavily in new equipment & new products. As a result of their expansion & continued commitment to PPM they are in need of an Improvement Engineer to be based from their site in the Daventry area.

Client Details

This business have an excellent market reputation & as a result have been able to secure more business & develop new products for key retailers. To cement their success, they have invested in new equipment & increased the site capacity. As an Improvement Engineer you will be part of the reliability team within an established engineering department & working on both mechanical & electrical equipment.


This business are in need of an Improvement Engineer who will be working as part of a team, leading the implementation of preventative maintenance processes. This is an exciting opportunity to be able to interact cross functionally in order to improve their engineering efficiency. You will also be required to work alone as well as part of a team & some key responsibilities include:

  • Receive shift handover information from engineering team leader/engineering supervisor
  • Agree/understand upcoming activities and priorities
  • Review plan with Engineering supervisor/shift manager for any up and coming availability of assets for P.M. and remedial work opportunities
  • Liaise with operations and engineering teams to ensure that your activities are understood and briefed to the teams
  • Ensure accurate information recording on CMMS/Shift reports/log books
  • Manage standards of conduct & performance by "leading by example"
  • Update shift report in conjunction with Team Leader to ensure fully documented handover to oncoming shift
  • Manage your breaks in conjunction with Team leader/Engineering supervisor maintaining production needs to ensure that lines run to their optimal performance
  • Ensure all required components are identified for planned engineering tasks
  • Support Engineering supervisor to ensure that training needs are identified in order to achieve the required standards of performance, quality and Health & Safety
  • Complete all documentation relevant to the tasks performed
  • Ensure that the maintenance of all machinery is carried on timely basis in alignment with the PM plan
  • Ensure operating and maintenance documents diagnostic instructions are available
  • In conjunction with Engineering supervisor identify training & development needs



An Improvement Engineer, ideally with experience within an a FMCG manufacturing environment ideally food, beverage or packaging. The successful applicant will have:

  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Recognised electrical and/or mechanical qualifications
  • Understanding of PLC & computer controlled equipment
  • Experience of working with PLCs (Siemens S7, S5 & Alan Bradley)
  • Competent electrical / electronic fault finding and analysis skills
  • Able to work under own supervision or as part of a team
  • Sound communication & training skills
  • An understanding of PPM & a passion for driving engineering improving
