Producing a wide range of sports, play and activity equipment and resources, over 500 in fact, the charity's trading arm now needs a new Product Manager to drive it forward. Working with commercial partners to ensure products are innovative, effective and affordable, you'll be proud of the fact that 100% of the organisations' profit is invested into youth sports programmes, investing in the future of young people.

You'll be responsible for driving market, customer and competitor research to better understand the sports/PE retail environment, developing useful insight that in turn enables a strategic approach to product development and sourcing.

Working alongside the Head of Product Development and Head of Marketing you'll grow and diversify the product range, ensuring appropriate pricing and quality for target audiences.

On a day to day basis, you'll.....

• Work with Finance regards stock management, ensuring timely ordering/re-ordering of key lines and bestsellers
• Support the Marketing team, planning and implementing effective offers/sales/promotions for seasonal or sport-specific marketing campaigns
• Identify and manage external suppliers and product manufacturers to ensure best value for money whilst developing effective and beneficial partnerships
• Manage product buying and sourcing activity to build and diversify the product range, including proprietary owned and third party items, ensuring appropriate to defined target audiences
• Oversee all aspects of pricing and sales forecasting, preparing weekly sales reports to outline sales against forecasts
• Create high quality, detailed product content and imagery for use online and offline, working with external suppliers where necessary
• Creating and developing new proprietary owned products and resources, based on evidence and market insight
• Develop and implement product insight plans, enabling achievement of key objectives focussed on product range, pricing and buying
• Gather market and competitor information, as well as past sales data, to make strategic decisions about products sold
• Securing commercial agreements with future partners to expand the product range
• Communicate insight data to inform senior colleagues on matters of strategic and operational importance
• Liaise with third party suppliers on all aspects of supply contracts and royalties
• Work within the e-commerce system to create product listings in the online store and ensure all product listings are kept accurate and up-to-date
• Provide information to the marketing team on key lines and core products, by audience segment to populate marketing materials

You’ll have product buying/sourcing experience, preferably for an online retailer, have managed sales/products including budget setting, pricing, sales forecasting and sales reporting and be confident working with product manufacturers and suppliers, including the negotiation of contracts.

You’ll be competent using e-commerce platforms, especially Volusion, and Salesforce as a CRM platform.

An in depth knowledge and understanding of sports and/or education landscape is absolutely key to this role.

On a personal level, you'll be highly motivated, proactive, able to work independently, a genuine ‘self starter,’ with excellent time management who relishes working under pressure and to deadlines.

Naturally, you'll have exceptional interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior staff.

You'll be able to objectively and systematically analyse problems in order to make the most effective decisions, using logical and creative approaches, and an outstanding attention for detail.

You'll be a confident communicator, both written and verbally, able to work as part of a team with a positive and helpful attitude.
