The company

Leading global communications delivery expert requires a Network Support Engineer to support their established and developing business both in their Bristol office and nationwide.

The role

As an IT Network Support Engineer you will take responsibility for ensuring the security of the firm's network and systems from threats from inside and outside. Writing network security policies, you will perform frequent audits of hardware and software and ensure those policies are up-to-date and are being followed. Additionally you will apply operating system updates, patches and make configuration changes to tighten security, protect the network from malicious entities such as hackers, viruses and spyware as well as maintain and support Data Privacy and security process and procedures. Covering planned and unplanned Out of Hours support you will be part of a pro-active team responding to critical alerts.

The requirements

Exhibiting proven IT and Network Support experience, ideally gained in a production environment you will have knowledge of common protocols such as SSL, HTTP, DNS, SMTP and IPsec, VLANs, TCIPIP. Possessing a strong understanding of firewall technologies (Cisco/Checkpoint/watchguard) and Packet Shaper, Load Balancer and Proxy Server knowledge you will have a good understanding of standards, conventions and new developments in the industry. With intermediate to expert IDS/IPS knowledge you will ideally be qualified in CCNA, VCP and Project Management.
