Cisco Network Engineer

A Cisco Network Engineer with 2+ years experience in a Network Support function is required for a global solutions and services provider, which prides itself on their operational excellence, experience and knowledge sharing within the organisation.

We are looking for a technically competent individual who has experience of supporting complex voice and data networks. The role involves the support, management and review of Cisco Networks, (progressing to design) and policies both internally and externally to our customers.

The Cisco Network Engineer will involve identifying and resolving operational impacting incidents prior to any service impact to customers and providing 2nd Line Support, and the role will progress with training and certification to 3rd Line Support.

The Cisco Network Engineer in this position will be required to fully integrate themselves into the Managed Services team and support all divisions across the organisation to drive service excellence and customer success

Your responsibilities as a Cisco Network Engineer will include:

*Identifying operational problems and is accountable for their resolution in accordance with agreed standards and procedure
*Working in line with defined service levels to meet customer's requirements.
*Supporting and troubleshooting MPLS VPN and complex WAN solution in a complex multi customer environment, good understanding of MP-BGP, VRF's
*Creating operational standards, work plans, and associated documentation for all team members to follow.
*Prioritising and managing issues of varying complexity and criticality.
*Pro-actively monitoring of systems/service status & equipment for our managed services customers.
*Delivering support via phone, email or remotely using VPN
*Leveraging other divisions in the company to accelerate resolution of service impacting incidents

Experience & Key Competencies

*Extremely strong experience of 2nd line Cisco Network support, ideally within a Managed Service environment.
*Good knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls.
*Good understanding of networking security concepts backed up by some practical firewall experience
*A good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, Subnetting, DHCP, WINS etc.
*Strong communication and customer service skills.
*Experience in delivering multi-site projects.
*CCNA, CCNP certification desirable but not essential, training and certification will be provided.
