You will have strong knowledge of and possess the following key competencies:


*Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required for Network Implementation, Network Troubleshooting and Project work
*CCNP in progress, minimum of ROUTE or SWITCH passed
*Knowledge of VoIP operations
*Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
*Availability in response to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions
*Solid knowledge of internal and external routing protocols - OSPF / BGP / EIGRP
*Experience managing firewall vendors including Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, Fortigate, Watchguard, Netscreen, Sonicwall and Checkpoint
*Solid knowledge of Cisco, Juniper & HP (E & A series) switches and IOS, IOS-XE routers
*Strong experience working in a multi-tenant and medium sized enterprise support environments
*Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal
*Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a busy business environment
*Flexibility in working pattern to travel when needed and perform out of hours and weekend work


*Knowledge of wireless technologies, primarily Cisco Aironet & Meraki
*Experience using SolarWinds monitoring platform or other similar product
*Knowledge of Cisco Nexus 5k and chassis switches
*Valid CCDA certification
*Valid CCNA certifications for wireless or security
*Valid CCSA certification for R75 onwards or equivalent firewall vendor
*Understanding of DNS, DHCP & related connectivity services
*Experience in dealing with 3rd party TAC resources
*Experience dealing with remote hands & field resources to perform remote work


As a 2nd Line Network Engineer at this level, you will be responsible for analysing, installing, configuring and maintaining of network infrastructure and application components. The 2nd line Network Engineers perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance and installation tasks to ensure the network performance meets company and customer satisfaction. A Network Engineer also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations. The engineer will provide support for customer enterprise environments and cloud platform network.

They maintain, support and develop customer infrastructure through their UK based service desk, field services team and asset lifecycle capabilities. They also design and deliver bespoke cloud services, connecting customers to cloud platforms and to global public cloud providers. My client works with a diverse range of customers and technologies so has a lively environment full of new challenges.
