Title Senior Network Engineer - based in Warrington

Description

Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Warrington on a permanent basis.

The senior level Network Engineer position is a technical role requiring intermediate to advanced proficiency in multiple IT systems and applications. This position is responsible for supporting the IT Network infrastructure which includes but is not limited to installing and maintaining LAN/WAN/Wireless networks and devices, conducting circuit and traffic analysis and resolving latency or other performance issues, troubleshooting advanced switching and routing issues, managing and troubleshooting firewall and DNS configurations, etc. Responsibilities may include subject matter expert, project technical lead, in addition to other functions necessary for ensuring service delivery.

Key Accountabilities:

Technical Delivery

- Manage internal IT Operational initiatives that are not PMO driven

- Drive the development of, and ensure the application of global standards, best practice guidelines, and technical recommendations

- Collaborate with IT Service Owners and teams on the maturity and delivery of designated services

- Promote awareness of IT security best practices and apply security principles across all areas of responsibility

- Participate in the testing and evaluation of new and emerging technologies that may be applicable to company's business requirements

- Conduct peer review and provide technical expertise, cross training, mentoring and guidance to colleagues as they seek to develop solutions and resolve problems

Project Delivery

- Participate in any phase of a PMO managed project as an Infrastructure/Operations resource, providing recommendations and performing tasks as required

- Act as Technical Lead in PMO managed projects as required and follow the PMO framework

Operations & Support

- Resolve Service Manager tickets within agreed timeframes by following the Service Management processes (Incident / Service Request / Change / Problem / Release) and ensure all tickets are correctly documented

- Perform Network Management and Administration tasks (runbook activities), including analysis to evaluate reliability, capacity, and utilization to ensure LAN, WAN, and Wireless environment is functioning at maximum availability

- Perform Datacenter Management and Administration activities to ensure data center optimization, including defining data center requirements; conducting analysis to evaluate space, power and cooling, rack and cable, etc; reporting and alerting as appropriate

- Provide Tier 3 support to resolve complex technical operational problems, including service interruption recovery and leading root cause analysis

Business Process

- Develop and manage related business and support processes that drive service delivery

- Develop or contribute to infrastructure support documentation, including training, design/diagrams, reference material, etc., ensuring that it is kept current and accessible by all staff, and contribute to the development of operational support documentation as appropriate

Financial Management

- Collaborate with the Procurement team and/or vendors as appropriate to ensure a solid understanding of existing cost of service

- Conduct regular review and analysis of designated services from a financial perspective to optimize the value of the service

Asset Management

Ensure compliance with relevant contractual obligations (such as software license agreements) by regularly reconciling our audited assets against our financial records and conducting software "true-ups" when appropriate

Intermediate or higher knowledge of Network principles, technologies and services, including:

- Cisco Routing, Switching and Wireless, (IOS/NXOS)

- Load Balancing and WAN Optimization (F5 and Riverbed)

- Switched Ethernet, Routing Protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)

- Client-Based IPSec/SSL VPN, Site-Based IPSec VPN, DMVPN

- WAN Circuit technologies (xDSL, Cable, MPLS, Metro Ethernet, T1, E1)

- PIX/ASA Firewalls, IPS/IDS

- Protocol Analysis (Netflow, SNMP, Syslog, Wireshark)

- QoS, DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS+

- Network Security Technologies (Proxy/Content Filtering, ISE, CWS, MFA)
