Senior Service Desk Engineer - North Gloucester area- £25-30k

The role is responsible for providing second line support for all incidents and requests logged by users and clients. The primary aim of the role is to assist in restoring normal service as quickly as possible. This may involve troubleshooting and fixing a technical fault, fulfilling a service request or answering a query - anything to allow the users to return to normal working.

The following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other Duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time:

  • Providing 2nd Line support for both client and internal incidents and service requests;
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all users of IT;
  • Logging all incidents and service requests, categorising and prioritising them;
  • Managing the lifecycle of incidents and requests, escalating them as appropriate and closing them when the user is satisfied with the outcome;
  • To carry out any other duties within the IT Team as requested by the IT Head.
  • To proactively manage personal development, in order to increase performance levels and provide opportunities for career development.
  • Maintaining and supporting desktops, laptops, telephony devices, printers and any other IT hardware and software.
  • Fault finding and complete resolution of faults on all systems and associated hardware/software as required.

Technical skills

  • Working knowledge of Windows Desktop support (Win 7 to 10).
  • Support windows 7 and 10 operating system with sound knowledge of iOS and Mac OS
  • Support Microsoft Office 2010, 2013, 2016 and Office 365
  • Working knowledge of installing and troubleshooting typical desktop applications, MS Office, Anti-Virus, Adobe, Java, etc.
  • Installation, Supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Desktop environments.
  • Troubleshooting PC, Laptop and Printer software and hardware.
  • Worked with AD administrative tasks e.g. account creation, reset password etc
